Pussycat Magazine Fall 1995 Issue also mentions 11/7/1994 date at Duke Coffeehouse as well as the venue confirming that Guided By Voices played there.
Audio was recorded. Info from the original taper: From the first night of a run they did with the Strapping Fieldhands and The Grifters, a legendary night in the local music scene. The Duke Coffeehouse was just that, a small room on campus that was a coffee house by day and occasional music venue with a max capacity of maybe 200 people (plus a BYOB policy!) at night. This was during a stretch when they were able to bring in a series of fantastic bands that were already typically playing bigger rooms. The bands were gracious enough to let me tape through the board that night, though I remember the recordings sounding pretty bad (unbalanced and dry) so I never went back to them much. I've had this show on my trade list and I recall making cassettes for a few people but I don't think this show ever really circulated. Maybe nobody asked for it in trade because I graded it fairly low. Listening now it sounds better than what I remember, it is not very crisp but all the instruments were there in the mix which allowed me to "re-balance" in Izotope (vocals down, guitars up) which helped though there is only so much you can do.
